He's saved their ass on numerous occasions this year. Thanks to him we'll be picking out of the top 5.

We'll see, Vandevelde has developed into a pretty good penalty killer. Totally agree about the attitude.

I like what Vandevelde has done too. I just think they might have to pick between one of them moving forward for the 4th line. I actually think a 4th line with Bellemare - Cousins - White has intrigue. All three aren't afraid to get greasy and they could provide some offense too. I think Raffl or White could take some of the PK time. Also if Laughton makes it he could as well.

Well done, Bill.

I don't quite understand the Mason bias some writers harbor and really don't get why Mason gets to bear the brunt of how the Blue jackets franchise fared when he was there.

Keep White. Let VDV walk. There are younger options knocking on the bottom 6 door.

I think the Flyers may try to package their two number ones -- one of which will be a top-10 pick -- as a means of moving up to draft a coveted player whom they consider a potential major impact player at his position (apart from McDavid and Eichel).

Bill... Cmon now... can't say something like that and hide who they're targeting!

I don't know who it is. I have a hunch, and that's all it is, that the player is Dylan Strome or Ivan Provorov. What I do know for sure is that the Flyers will at least make pitches to move up if they don't win the McDavid lottery.

Something else to consider about shootouts: If a goalie has stopped 3-of-4 in a four-round shootout, he's "done well." Yet if his team fails to score in that fourth round and the other side then wins in the fifth round, the goalie's save percentage suddenly looks ugly.

I swear that has happened half a dozen times this season.

spot on with your "amateur" scouting report of mason, in this goaltender's opinion.

he's been consistent since his arrival, and even better this year than last, despite his injuries. get him some real d, some scoring wingers and we're in business.

the mason haters can jump in the river. they're idiots.

Interesting. Going to have to find a dance partner though. Maybe Edmonton would be willing.

Bill,

Could this be the year where maybe you move this years two 1st and 2016 1st for to get to number 2? Is that too much if it allowed to get Eichel, assuming number 1 takes McDavid.

Mighty steep, but intriguing.
